Hey Friends! I can’t even tell you how excited I am for fall. I have been thinking about it since last winter. Have you gone apple or pumpkin picking yet or at the very least thought about going? Does it leave you feeling each year like you’ve spent more money than it was worth? I am here to tell how you to go apple or pumpkin picking the right way so you make the most out of your day, money, and family fun!

It’s very important to call the apple or pumpkin picking orchard that you want to go to first to ask them these key questions:
- when is the best time to go that is predicted to have the smaller crowd
- what activities do you have there
- do you have low branches for kids to pick their apples
- do you have food and drinks there
If you are local to Boston, we went to C.N. Smith Farms located in East Bridgewater, MA.
STEP ONE:
You need to get into the spirit of fall. What I mean is you need to dress the part. Get out your flannel, wear your tall boots with a pair of jeans, and maybe even a panama or fedora hat. You can even just wear a warm colored sweater with some leather pants and a pair or tall boots or booties, so cute too!
STEP TWO:
Get warm apple cider and fresh baked warm apple cider donuts
– there’s just something about the warm cider and donuts that just hits differently at the orchards
STEP THREE:
Pick your apples in the apple orchid
– you can make fun deserts with your kids later with the apples you pick
STEP FOUR:
Ride on a hayride to you pumpkin patch
STEP FIVE:
Pick you pumpkin/s in the pumpkin patch
– use these pumpkins to carve or paint with you kids later
STEP SIX:
Feed the animals at the petting zoo
STEP SEVEN:
Get your face painted – or watch your kids get their faces painted
STEP EIGHT:
Walk though a corn maze
– can also make it into a game by separating into teams and race
STEP NINE:
Take a family photo
STEP TEN:
Walk the farm shop
– support local business by checking out their fresh homemade jams, honeys, pies, etc.
STEP ELEVEN:
Have lots of laughs, watch the excitement on your kids faces, make memories to look back on, and start a tradition your kids can pass on!
